How Much Does The Uber Driver Make – Uber Eats is an app-based delivery service that delivers takeout food directly from the restaurant to the customer’s home. Consumers order food through their smartphone. Drivers deliver food by car, scooter, motorcycle or bicycle.
Uber Eats UK started in London in 2016 and has now become a national business reaching over 90% of the population. Every day, a small army of drivers deliver food to homes, offices and workplaces as the country’s hunger for restaurant food shows no signs of abating. Some delivery drivers are part-time workers and work for pocket money, while others are full-time drivers who make a large portion of their income on Uber Eats.
How Much Does The Uber Driver Make
The food delivery industry exploded during the pandemic, when eating out was banned. Thousands of drivers entered the business to meet demand. Today, even with the reopening of the hospitality sector, demand for drivers remains strong. This tempts many newbies to try the job. Their first question was, “How much do Uber Eats drivers make?” These are the facts:
Ways To Make Money While Driving
Uber Eats pays drivers per ride. They receive a collection fee of between 50p and £3.00, a delivery fee and a fee for each mile they travel. Rates vary depending on where drivers work and the vehicle they drive.
These figures do not include bonus payments (called ‘Boost’) paid to drivers during peak demand. They also do not include tips, which are at the customer’s discretion. Uber Eats charges a 25% discount from each delivery payment as a service fee. Because there are so many variables, it is difficult to determine a driver’s income. However, according to reports from real drivers on Glassdoor, a workplace monitoring service, the average annual income is £19,268, before expenses.
Drivers must provide their own vehicle and pay for fuel, repairs and food delivery insurance (food delivery cannot be paid for using standard motor cover). Successful drivers look for ways to control these costs. Insurance prices can be high, so it’s important to get the best quote. Hundreds of pounds could be saved a year.
Many drivers work with Uber Eats because they have the freedom to choose when to work. For them, freedom is the most important thing. Others are looking for a solid income. However, regardless of your reason for becoming a delivery driver, the answer to the question, “How much do Uber Eats drivers make?” It’s around £10 an hour.
