Narrator: A military service processing station, or MEP, is where military service applicants go to complete the military draft process. The MEP makes sure that each applicant meets fitness standards. Physical and behavioral requirements as determined by the Department of Defense and the service branches
Steps To Join
The government pays for housing for all military applicants preparing to enter the MEP process. The hotel staff will explain what to expect the next day. Includes a code of conduct and a list of prohibited items that are not allowed in MEP.
After the briefing Applicants can enjoy hotel amenities and special candidate lounges. where they can hang out Get to know each other, play games, and watch TV until 10:00 p.m. Applicants are not allowed to drink alcohol or leave the hotel. All applicants are required to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, or ASVAB. The ASVAB is an intensive aptitude test that helps determine which military job is most appropriate for an individual. Some applicants may take the ASVAB test early in the afternoon. Or they may have been to a satellite testing location near their home before. The ASVAB measures reading comprehension and math skills. Including knowledge of electronics, science and machinery. It took up to three hours. Applicants may be required to complete special purpose testing to assist the Army in determining their best suitability for a specific job.
The next step is a health examination. Tests include full body urinalysis, HIV, pregnancy, drugs and alcohol. Ortho-neural examination balance and coordination as well as hearing and vision testing.
